I'm hoping that Metcheck's forecast for Ipswich and XCWeather's forecast for Andrewsfield are more like we're going to get - around 10mph. Fingers crossed.

Metcheck
XCWeather

I'll keep an eye on these and the BBC's forecasts and make a decision Saturday evening.

All forecasts seem to say around 10mph at 1pm increasing to 15mph by 5pm. XCWeather's looks the best so I'll order that one Cheesy

See you all tomorrow.

At last - a good day for thermal soaring Smiley

There was still a bit of wind but at least you could put in several thermal turns without ending up way down wind. Lift was found all over the field, Paul Wainwright used the left side of the field to good effect while I and others often went down the right hand side. The wood downwind of the landing area also provided lift either off the edge of the trees or directly over it. The wind was still strong enough to make landing difficult and many good flights were spoilt by missing the landing spot. Every slot was won by a 9 minute plus flight - mostly 9:50 something and some landing bonus points. David Godbold suffered from a problem with his motor cutting out after a few seconds so was unable to continue. Pete Mitchell was flying a new model but suffered a small breakage and had to retire.

So well done to 2009 SF Nats. Open eSoaring winner Paul Wainwright, followed closely by Brian Austin - separated by just 8 points, after dropping one score.

Thanks Tony.

Excellent to see that Ray and Peter 'got the day off' to go flying.

Good to see the nine-minutes plus flights in every slot too!

Best regards,

Jef
