Hi Guys

The mention of exporting F3K from the SFNats into the FFNats made me shudder whilst at the Barcs AGM.

Yes there is a contingent of radio flying (of which I partake) at the FF Nats, but the effect on the venue is minimal. To add a full day of a radio competition class (or more?) to the FF Nats would be sacrilege.

There is an excellent online publication called Sticks and Tissue, which is about "traditional" aeromodelling and the fears of another of it's readers have been copied and paste here...

Free Flight Nationals From Barry
Do I need to be alarmed , or am I seeing spooks. My recollections tell me that radio control took over
the original nationals, the free flight modellers had to move to a completely new event the now Free
Flight Nationals. The 2009 event was blessed with near perfect weather conditions, so
what am I squeaking about. I will tell you, I note in a power club news sheet a prominent SAM
official writes on behave of SAM. "Next year 2010 our activities at the F/F Nationals will be
prevalent with more vintage flying as well a competitions, which will include an enhanced RC
duration event. In this there will be two classes, A for models with ic motors up to 2cc and B for
models with larger motors.
The models must have been designed prior to Jan 1956 usually this will be a free flight modified for
2 channel radio or 3 channel with motor control". Hang on, this is full radio control not radio
retrieve as he would have us believe. Call a halt now gentleman or you will have A and B certs
required plus large roped off areas and the pit police to contend with. Come on Mr W. leave the free
flight men to enjoy the wide open area of Barkston Heath.

We must not allow silent flight to further threaten the FF Nats. Let's support the writer of the above, what do you think?

Absolutely agree with everything you say Jef.

What was the reasoning behind the suggestion?

Hi Stu,

Season's Greetings to you and yours.

What was the reasoning behind the suggestion?

My recollection of the BARCS AGM is fading, but I believe it was one of the ideas suggested at an SFTC meeting (on which feedback from BARCS was wanted).

Best regards,

Jef

Thanks for letting us know that Hayley.

Where would information like that be available?

Was there no development from the RAF Digby investigations that Mr Moynihan talked of? Surely it could not be a site with worse access than Spitalgate?

Season's greetings to you all,

Jef

Hi Jef,

Much of the rumour mill about F3K and the FF nats grew from the thread in this link.

http://www.flyquiet.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=1772.msg15106#msg15106

Sometimes it is not so easy to pick out what is forum rumor and what is the actual fact. In this case it a couple of people not involved with F3K who read FQ seem to have got their wires crossed after reading the first page of that thread.

If you know anyone that thinks there is any attempt by F3K to get a slot at the FF nats, please put their mind at ease... the idea has never even been raised or promoted to BARCS, SFTC or FF committes by anyone who flys F3K.
